ScentBox is a monthly perfume subscription that will run you $14.95 for every box that you get and in each box that you receive, you have the option to choose one scent a month or choose to receive Scent Box’s fragrance of the month.

I’m someone who doesn’t have too much experience with designer scents, but ScentBox has a selection of over 850 authentic designer fragrances, so I’m bound to run into some scents that I love and other scents that I’m not too fond on.

What I thought was a really amazing bonus that set ScentBox apart from other fragrance subscription boxes is that ScentBox is that if you don’t enjoy the scent that you receive, ScentBox offers free exchanges every month! Each bottle of designer fragrance that you receive from Scentbox contains enough to last you for 31 days, at four sprays per day.

  • What is it? ScentBox
  • How much is it? $14.95 (free shipping)
  • The total value of my November Scent Box: $7.15

What I got in my November ScentBox:

  • One 8 mL vial of Vince Camuto Fiori

ScentBox sends out an information card that gives subscribers a small description of the scent profile for both the women’s scents and the men’s scents that Scent Box has sent out each month.

Scent Box also includes a card that gives you a 15% off coupon for any full-sized bottle of perfume. In addition, ScentBox also includes a little card that explains how you can exchange your perfume for another sample for free.

This was the first box that I’ve ever received from ScentBox and I have to admit that I was disappointed in the construction quality of this box. The box literally falling apart from the bottom, which I wasn’t impressed with at all.

In my November ScentBox, I received the scent of the month perfume that ScentBox chose, which was the Vince Camuto Limited Edition Fiori Eau de Parfum. You can purchase the Vince Camuto Limited Edition Fiori Eau de Parfum for $90 for 3.4 ounces, which means that the value of the sample that I received in my ScentBox subscription is worth $7.15, which means that the value of my perfume sample is around half of what the cost of Scent Box is.

I don’t have any experience with designer fragrance samples, but the little exposure that I do have is from the small perfume samples that I get inside of my Sephora Play subscription.

However, the samples that I get inside of my Sephora Play subscription are much smaller than the fragrance sample size that I received in my ScentBox.

The fragrance bottle comes inside of a padded box, with a magnetic lid close. While I was disappointed in the overall construction quality of the box that I received, I did like the overall design of the box.

The packaging was simple enough that you could store your designer fragrance inside this box and store it away neatly on your vanity or wherever you keep your beauty products.

I enjoyed the bright blue travel sprayer that the fragrance sample came in, but I really loved how indestructible the travel sprayer was. I dropped this travel sprayer several times and the inside fragrance sample bottle didn’t break, crack, or shatter! I also still was able to use the sprayer and didn’t have any problems with the spray cap coming untwisted or leaking when I sprayed.

I don’t know if ScentBox sends out a different colored sprayer with each month’s box, so I thought that it was very beneficial to subscribers that the name of the perfume sample was marked on the bottom of the travel sprayer bottle.

I’m not a big fan of floral perfumes, as I normally find that they are too powdery for my personal taste and end up being too strongly scented for me to feel like I can breathe comfortably. I often get a lot of floral scented perfumes in my Sephora Play box, so I was expecting to receive a floral scented perfume in my very first Scent Box.

After reading a little bit about the inspiration behind Fiori by Vince Camuto, I learned that this fragrance was inspired by blossoming delphiniums in Vince Camuto’s personal garden.

The profile for this fragrance is described as a limited-edition summer scent, even though I don’t feel that the term ‘limited edition’ describes this fragrance very well, considering that it was first released in 2013. The term ‘Fiori’ is Italian for Flowers, describing a fresh, light, and feminine scent.

As for the layers of notes that create the fragrance profile, you will find top notes of pink grapefruit and white nectarine, with middle notes of freesia and Iris, and base notes of sandalwood and cedar wood.

With the way this fragrance sample mixes with my body chemistry, I really pick up on the grapefruit and white nectarine! I’m always on the lookout for a citrus scented and bright perfume, but I haven’t really found one yet that I’m absolutely in love with. This perfume sample isn’t my dream perfume sample, but I really enjoyed the fruity top notes in this sample.

The Vince Camuto Fiori fragrance sample that I received doesn’t have an overwhelming floral scent, but I really noticed the top notes the most. I’m not very impressed with the sillage (the extent to which a perfume’s fragrance lingerers in the air when applied) of the Vince Camuto Fiori fragrance and I found that the scent of the fragrance didn’t last on my body for very long. I ended up having to reapply this fragrance around midday to keep my scent lasting.

Final thoughts on my November Scent Box:

This is the very first box that I received from Scent Bird and I have to say that I’m very happy that I didn’t receive an overly powdery, floral scent that I commonly receive in other subscription boxes.

I went through the entirety of the sample size that I received from ScentBox in around two weeks (16 days exactly) because I had to reapply the perfume sample twice a day to make the scent last. While I wasn’t very impressed with the longevity of this perfume, I am happy with the scent profile of this fragrance.

The total cost for my November ScentBox was $14.95 and the total value of my November Scent Box fragrance sample was $7.15, which means that the total value of my box is a little over half of the total cost of my November Scent Box was.

While I do have to say that I expect from all of the subscription boxes that I receive to have a higher value per a box than I what I paid for, I understand that with fragrance subscription boxes, there are several variances that should be considered when judging a fragrance subscription, such as:

  • The total value of the fragrance subscription is dependent upon the fragrance that is chosen to be put in that month’s box. Next month, I could receive a fragrance sample that is valued above $14.95, which would balance out the undervalue of the November box.
  • In comparison to other fragrance subscription boxes available on the market, Scent Bird sends subscribers out a new case and travel sprayer every month. That means with each box that you purchase, you’re going to receive a box to keep your fragrance sample in and you will get a travel sprayer to hold your fragrance sample each month. This means that you won’t have to worry about switching out all of your perfume samples with a travel sprayer, but instead will receive a travel sprayer with each perfume sample that you get!
  • Scent Box also offers a free exchange program, if you absolutely hate the scent that you receive for a certain month. You can get one free exchange per month, for an unlimited number of months!

For this being my first impression of Scent Box, I have to say that I’m happy with the overall scent profile of the fragrance that I received. I hope that with the next box that I receive, a receive a sample size that has a higher value than the $14.95 that I pay for the subscription!

What are your overall thoughts of ScentBox?

December ScentBox Unboxing

scent box review

ScentBox is a monthly fragrance subscription box that costs $14.95 and in each box that you receive, you will get a 30-day supply of a designer fragrance sample (four sprays a day), a travel spray case, and a black box to keep your designer fragrance sample it.

Let’s see what scent I received in my December Scent Box?

  • What is it? ScentBox
  • How much is it? $14.95 (with free shipping)
  • Total value of my December Scent Box: $14.04
  • What I got in my December Scent Box:
    • One 8 mL vial of DKNY Be Tempted

One thing that sets ScentBox apart from other fragrance subscription boxes on the market is that Scent Box offers one free exchange per a month (with free shipping for your returns) if you don’t like the scent that you received for the month.

In each box that you receive, you will get an information card that you remind you about the free exchange you’re allowed, as well as how to start the exchange process if you don’t like the scent that you receive.

With the way that the Scent Box works, is that this subscription allows you to choose what scent you would like to receive and if you don’t select a scent within the time frame that Scent Box allows, you will receive the scent of the month that ScentBox selects.

ScentBox also includes a card in the box that provides you with a 15% off coupon for a full-sized bottle of perfume of the scent that you received for the month. This is the second box that I received from Scent Box and I’m happy that this box isn’t falling apart!

In my December Scent Box, I received the scent of the month perfume that ScentBox chose for December, which was the DKNY Be Tempted by Donna Karan fragrance. You can buy the DKNY Be Tempted by Donna Karan fragrance at Kohl’s for $52, but Kohl’s was the only website that I was able to find this perfume available. Search results for this perfume did lead me to Ulta’s website, Macy’s website, and Amazon, but this perfume wasn’t available for sale on Ulta or Macy’s website.

While you could purchase this fragrance off of Amazon’s website, I know that I’ve heard a lot of people say that they’ve bought fragrances off of Amazon and they’ve been knock-off versions. I don’t know if this perfume has been discontinued, but I do think that it’s very interesting that Scent Box was able to send out samples of a perfume that’s hard to find! Even though I don’t know too much about designer fragrances, this makes me think that maybe Scent Box has a decent selection of other hard-to-find fragrances.

ScentBox also includes a card with their box that gives a scent profile for both the women’s fragrances and the men’s fragrances that they send out each month.

Each month, ScentBox sends out a sleek black case for you to store your travel sprayer in and with each box that you receive, you will also receive a travel sprayer with the ScentBox logo on the sprayer. Unlike other subscription boxes, you will receive a travel sprayer with each fragrance sample that you receive with ScentBox, whereas with other fragrance subscription boxes, you only one travel sprayer case and you have to insert the fragrance samples that you receive into the one travel sprayer that you receive.

The total value of my December ScentBox is $14.04, which is better than the total value of my November ScentBox (total value of $7.15. My December ScentBox had a higher value than my November Scent Box, which is moving in the right direction, but the total value of my December ScentBox is still just a little bit less than the total cost of my December ScentBox.

For December, I received a red travel spray case with a little present decoration on the packaging of the travel spray case. Last month I received a blue travel spray case, so I’m starting to hope that ScentBox changes up the color of the case each month! I think that this would help to make all of the scents less confusing (even though the bottom of the travel spray case is labeled with the scent inside of the spray case).

The travel spray case comes inside of a padded box that has a magnetic lid closure. I really love how simple the overall design of this box is, as it’s simple enough that you could store it away with the rest of your beauty products and wouldn’t have to worry about how disorganized a cluster of different colored spray bottles looks.

I also like how well built the travel spray case is! I’m a very clumsy person and I have dropped the travel spray case several times, but the sample bottle inside of the travel spray case didn’t break, crack, or shatter.

Despite having dropped my fragrance bottle several times, I didn’t have any problems with the sprayer cap coming untwisted or popping off or leaking when I sprayed the bottle. I’ve read that some people have been able to successfully pull the sample size bottle out of the travel sprayer, but I have yet been able to figure out how to (and I don’t really want to, I love the spray cases).

I don’t have too much experience with designer perfumes, except for what I’ve been exposed through with my Sephora Play subscription. I’m so in love with the scent profile for the DKNY Be Tempted fragrance sample, which has a really sweet scent to it.

The top notes of this DKNY Are Tempted sample are red berries, apple, and vanilla, while the middle notes are rose, myrrh, patchouli, and licorice, and the base notes being orange blossom, lemon, violet, and cassia.

The notes that I picked up on the most are the red berries, orange blossom, and vanilla! I love the way all three of these notes mix together, but considering all of the fruit scents that are in this fragrance, it didn’t have a heavy fruit or floral scent.

The notes that I picked up on the most are dependent upon my body chemistry, but I absolutely love the way that this fragrance works with my chemistry. The DKNY Be Tempted sample that I got in my December Scent Box is my latest beauty obsession.

Final thoughts of the December Scent Box:

The total cost for my December Scent Box was $14.95 and the total value of my December Scent Box fragrance sample was $14.40, which means that the total value of my box is a little over half of the total cost of my December ScentBox was.

I do have to admit that I expect from all of the subscription boxes that I receive to have a higher value per a box than I what I paid for the box, I understand that when it comes to fragrance subscription boxes, there are a few variances that should be considered when looking at the value of a fragrance subscription, such as:

  • ScentBox also offers a free exchange program, if you absolutely hate the scent that you receive for a certain month. You can get one free exchange per month, for an unlimited number of months!

For this being the second Scent Box that I received, I’m totally in love with the scent that ScentBox picked out for my second box! I’m very impressed with Scent Box not sending me a floral or powdery scent for my second box.

This fragrance sample lasted me 30 days, which I’m very happy about! I do feel like I got a pretty close value out of my ScentBox in comparison to what I paid for, which I’m very happy about!
