Best Seasonal Flower Subscriptions

I love the holiday season. By the time I crawl into bed on December 1st, the stockings have been hung, the tree has been decorated, and I’ve downed three glasses of eggnog. My holiday cards are always sent out on time. Honestly, I probably account for about 15% of Mariah Carey’s Spotify streams each December.

But even I can admit that the holidays can be super stressful. Between trying to coordinate family plans and scrambling to find the right gifts for everyone on your list, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. This year, I’ve decided to keep things simple.

My secret weapon? Seasonal flower subscriptions.

In just a few minutes, I can give each person on my list the gift of gorgeous fresh flowers delivered at whatever frequency I choose (my mom gets a weekly bouquet, of course). Whether you’re gifting a loved one or treating yourself, a premium seasonal flower subscription is an amazing gift that just keeps on giving joy.

Here’s where it gets tricky: there are a ton of floral subscriptions out there, and they can be hit or miss when it comes to quality, freshness, and selection. To help you find the right one, I checked out five popular seasonal flower subscription options:

Selection & Vibe

UrbanStems

urbanstems website

UrbanStems takes a modern and sophisticated approach to their arrangements. They weave striking accents and eye-catching combos into their designer seasonal bouquets, and use freshly cut in-season stems that are handpicked for quality.

They have a wide range of arrangements – some bold and bright, others soft and sweet. My personal favorites include The Margot, The Unicorn, and The Good Vibes, but I’d honestly love to receive any of their creations. Since they use premium seasonal flowers, their bouquets stay gorgeous for up to two weeks.

Who will love them: Artistic souls, cool fashionistas, and eco-friendly floral fans.

The Bouqs

If these floral subscriptions were the Friends group, The Bouqs would be the Phoebe – quirky, sensitive, and full of surprises. Their lush and eclectic selection ranges from sweet cottagecore to gothic elegance to LEGO (yep, they’ve partnered with the actual toy company). Their website is easy to navigate and guides you through the process with ease.

Who will love them: Swiftie cousins, Boho BFFs, and anyone who loves the farm-to-vase philosophy.

BloomsyBox

BloomsyBox’s bright and cheerful bouquets feel as though they were freshly picked in a meadow, then artfully arranged in a way that feels almost effortless. My favorite thing about BloomsyBox was the sheer number of subscription types on offer, giving you a ton of control over your stem selection. I couldn’t resist their monthly New York Botanical Garden subscription, which comes with 30+ lovely stems inspired by the famous garden.

Best recipients: Picky petal-lovers and pet owners.

1-800-Flowers

1800flowers website

Personally, I find the 1-800-Flowers vibe to be a little corporate for my taste. I wish their floral arrangements were more modern, and I would love to see a bigger commitment to sustainability.

That being said, there are a few gems tucked into their inventory if you scroll far enough, and they can be inventive when it comes to their vases – check the faux-Chanel vibes of their Magnificent Roses Preserved Eternal Elegance (yes, their bouquet names could also be a little punchier).

While I probably wouldn’t order from them again, I do think their flower subscription could make a good gift for some people, especially if they live in an area not yet served by smaller floral delivery companies. They do offer one fun bonus: you can pair your blooms with one of their numerous gourmet snack subscriptions.

Who will love them: Moms of all kinds, foodies, and corporations.

Farmgirl Flowers

As a female-founded and female-run company, they design the type of arrangements they’d love to receive, with an eye for unique details like their adorable, upcycled signature burlap wrap. This uniqueness extends to their bouquets – each arrangement they send out is one-of-a-kind, as they choose their stems according to quality, rather than trying to exactly recreate a specific bouquet each time. Like BloomsyBox, it’s giving super-cute wildflower vibes, and I’m SO here for it.

Who will love them: Chill stylistas, countrycore brides, and creatives.

Subscription Options

UrbanStems

UrbanStems makes flower subscriptions easy. They offer convenient pay-as-you-go and pre-paid options, and their Shop integration makes checkout a breeze. All subscription orders come with free shipping, so you don’t need to worry about extra costs. If you want to pause or skip a month, no problem – their subscriptions are super flexible. You can cancel any time with no penalty, and their rewards program lets you unlock exclusive offers just by enjoying their monthly deliveries.

In addition to their weekly, biweekly, monthly, and annual options, they offer three different subscription levels. Their Classic bouquets are made up of 15-20 premium stems and cost $60 per delivery. Their $75 Seasonal bouquets include 20-26 premium stems, and your first order comes with an elegant vase. The Luxe comes in at $105 per order, with 26-30 gorgeous designer blooms and a custom vase with every delivery. You’ll also receive a free pair of floral shears with your first order.

Personalization is built into the checkout process. Not a wordsmith? No problem; they provide non-corny pre-written options for a range of occasions. You can also record and include a video message for no additional charge – your recipient just needs to scan a QR code and they’re all set!

The Bouqs

the bouqs co website

The Bouqs offers weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or bi-monthly delivery dates, plus a gift-friendly 3-month pre-paid option. You can cancel your subscription whenever you want, or snooze it for up to three consecutive deliveries.

Their Original bouquets cost $48 and include 10-16 stems. Their Deluxe bouquets include 20-32 stems and will set you back $59, while their Grand bouquets include 30-45 stems and cost $74. All orders include free delivery. You can adjust delivery dates (and even recipients) easily, and you can select your own bouquets each month or have The Bouqs curate one for you! All orders include instructions and a gift card, and subscribers get access to exclusive blooms unavailable for one-off orders.

BloomsyBox

BloomsyBox has by far the widest variety of subscription options available, letting you choose not only the number of stems, but the varieties themselves. If you’re a hydrangea fan like me, you’ll love their $54.99 hydrangea-only subscription. Feeling fancy? They have a quarterly orchid subscription that costs $84.99. Not into petals? For $59.99, they’ll send you a low-maintenance houseplant every month. They even have a subscription specifically for pet-safe blooms!

If you choose an Original, Premium, or Deluxe subscription, rather than a specific flower, your bouquet will be a handcrafted surprise. Subscriptions range from $54.99 to $99.99 per month, ship for free, and can be paused or cancelled whenever you like.

1-800-Flowers

They offer three different subscription packages. One-of-a-Kind Bouquets start at $42.99 and are handcrafted by a local florist. Fresh Market Bouquets are mixed arrangements including special blooms and start at $49.99. Is the subscription for a classic rose-lover? You can have two dozen farm-fresh roses shipped for $64.99, with add-on vases available.

Your flowers will be delivered every 1, 2, 4, 6, or 8 weeks, and your subscription can be canceled or paused at will. Want to give your floral delivery dates some extra oomph? 1-800-Flowers also offers candy, wine, charcuterie, and even seafood subscriptions.

Farmgirl Flowers

Farmgirl Flowers website

Farmgirl subscription arrangements are delivered weekly, biweekly, or monthly, and you can choose between rose ($79-$139), lily ($79), or curated mixed floral bouquets ($99), each containing between 12 and 24 gorgeous stems.

Their mixed flower bouquets include seasonal flowers like anemones, ranunculus, hydrangea, and lilies, and come wrapped in burlap, which gives them an extra dose of cottagecore charm. Similar to UrbanStems, The Bouqs, and BloomsyBox, the stems and colors will vary depending on the season.

Freshness & Quality

UrbanStems

UrbanStems is all about quality, and they partner directly and exclusively with Rainforest Alliance Certified farms. This means that you get the absolute freshest seasonal blooms with every delivery, and you can feel great about supporting sustainable horticulture and fair working conditions for farm employees.

Their arrangements are securely boxed and shipped without water, which helps to extend the longevity of your blooms and prevent the growth of bacteria while en route to your door, so you can swoon over your gorgeous arrangements for up to two weeks.

The Bouqs

The Bouqs ship their stems in bud form directly from the farm, allowing you to watch your flowers bloom before your eyes. Like UrbanStems, their flowers are shipped without water to prevent early blooming and bacterial growth. They work with local growers to ensure that all of their flowers are responsibly sourced and environmentally friendly as part of their farm-to-vase approach.

Bouquets may arrive deconstructed, and you or your recipient may need to put in a little work to unwrap and arrange your stems. While you may prefer to receive a traditional handwrapped arrangement, this method can help keep your stems from being damaged during shipping.

BloomsyBox

BloomsyBox website

BloomsyBox oversees production and post-harvest care at their partner farms, ensuring that all seasonal blooms in their bouquets are selected for optimal freshness. They work closely with Rainforest Alliance certified farms in Colombia and Ecuador that do not use toxic chemicals on their crops.

1-800-Flowers

They guarantee that their arrangements will remain fresh for 7 days after delivery, which matches my experience, though many of their customer reviews complain about stem quality.

Farmgirl Flowers

Another strong proponent of the farm-to-vase philosophy, Farmgirl ships their flowers directly from farm and distribution partners across the USA, as well as Ecuador and Colombia. Their bouquets are typically a 50/50 mix between homegrown and imported flowers. A water pack is included in all floral shipments that will take more than a couple of days to keep your blooms hydrated during their journey.
