It wasn’t all that long ago when I was looking around my house and wishing it could all just clean itself for once. As it turns out, there’s actually a subscription service that can handle the weekly or biweekly reset, putting everything back to rights (read: clean!) without you having to lift a finger.
Homeaglow is a subscription model cleaning service that I’ve been using for a while now, and although my cleaner doesn’t arrive in a delivery box, this is one of the best subscription gifts I’ve ever given to myself.
TL;DR (Things To Know About Homeaglow)
- The per-hour cleaning rate is significantly discounted if you maintain the monthly ForeverClean membership, and the savings that provides make this the best option for anyone who needs routine house cleaning. (Especially when it’s weekly or biweekly.)
- Booking is done online, entirely, and you can pick your cleaner (and keep the same one if you choose).
- When booking the first discounted cleaning (often $19), you’re committing to a minimum six-month ForeverClean membership that costs $59 per month. You can cancel your Homeaglow membership at any time, but early cancellation will bill your first cleaning at the full rate it would have been without the discount attached.
- A Homeaglow subscription is best for busy households that need regular cleaning, subscription-minded users who understand commitment needs, and budget-conscious users who want to optimize for value.
If you’re used to subscription boxes or memberships, you already know the drill: the value is found in the way the model actually works over time. I’ll share everything you need to know about my experience subscribing to Homeaglow, and why I’m still a (very happy) member.
How Homaglow Works

Homeaglow is a marketplace that connects you with independent cleaners in your area, but it’s tied into a membership model called ForeverClean, which is where most of the value (and often, confusion) comes from.
Booking Process
Booking through Homeaglow is super simple and done online. You’ll enter your zip code first to make sure it’s operating in your area, and from there, you can tailor your cleaning based on home size and cleaning needs.
You have the option to browse available cleaners, and their profiles include ratings, reviews, and hourly rates. You can also choose to be paired with one based on availability for a given date(s) and starting-time range.
With Homeaglow, you’re not really booking a “package.” You’re booking time, which gives you a lot of flexibility. And if you’re not sure how much time to book, there is a helpful guide on the website that gives some general estimates based on room count.
ForeverClean Membership

This is the part where you really need to pay attention, because Homeaglow advertises very low introductory cleaning rates (as low as ~$19) for your first clean.
That is real, 100%, but it’s tied to automatic enrollment in their subscription program, ForeverClean.
What ForeverClean Includes:
- Priority booking options
- Access to heavily discounted rates (depending on where you live, as low as ~$20 an hour)
- Ongoing access to the platform at member pricing (~$59 per month)
When booking the introductory cleaning at Homeaglow, you’re committing to a six-month ForeverClean membership (minimum). You can cancel at any time, but if you cancel it before those six months have passed, the first cleaning you had will be billed at full price.
Pricing & Value

I’m going to lay out my pricing to give you an idea of what I’m paying between the membership and the cleaner I book every two weeks. Keep in mind that hourly rates will vary based on your area, but this should give you a ballpark idea, at the very least.
My personal breakdown of Homeaglow (cost + time):
- ~$59 for the membership, monthly
- ~$20 per hour for cleaning
- 2 sessions per month, at 4 hours each (8 hours total)
I pay $80 per cleaning session, which totals ~$160 each month. Adding in the ForeverClean membership, my cost is ~$219 per month (sans tip, which I always tip my cleaner).
Many local cleaners charge anywhere from ~$150 to ~$250 per visit (and in one quote from someone on Angi, ~$300). Which means I’m getting two cleanings each month through Homeaglow for less than the cost of one through another service.
So if you’re like me and you need consistent, routine general house cleaning, Homeaglow delivers solid value. And too, what I’m saving allows me to tip my cleaner more generously while still saving money.
(Having been on the other side of the relationship since I used to clean houses myself, trust me… tipping is so very appreciated. I wouldn’t say that it’s expected, but it’s definitely going to brighten your cleaner’s day.)
Speaking of tipping: If you don’t have cash on hand, you can tip your cleaner through Homeaglow’s website, which will charge the tip to the credit card on file. (And they keep 100% of the tip.)
Cleaner Matching & Quality
Because cleaners through Homeaglow are independent, there can be some variation in the cleaning quality. In my experience, though, I feel that communication and expectations matter a lot.
Cleaners through Homeaglow are not going to wash your walls or scrub your carpets; they’re going to handle normal routine house cleaning duties: dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, wiping down counters, cleaning bathrooms and floors, and that kind of stuff.

Personally, it’s really helpful to talk with them, explain what you need to have done, and give the house tour so they can plan their flow. Ask questions, and let them ask you questions. The more you communicate with each other, the better the experience.
I was lucky to land an excellent and reliable cleaner my first time, and I’ve been rebooking them regularly ever since.
Another thing to note about the quality of cleaners at Homeaglow is that they all have to pass a background check before they can be listed in the curated marketplace. Reviews and ratings are public, too, so you can browse potential cleaners and vet them thoroughly before booking.
My Experience With Homeaglow

I’ll be the first to admit that the idea of hiring someone to clean my house left me feeling a few… well, feelings. I’m a grown woman who can handle her business, and part of that includes the general upkeep of my home. But when Saturday rolls around, and I have some work-free time, cleaning is not necessarily the way I want to spend it all.
The very first time I booked through Homeaglow, I opted to be paired with a cleaning pro based on availability, mostly because I wanted to see how that would work and whether they’d match me with a good one without me having to put a lot of research into it.

One thing to understand about Homeaglow is that every cleaner in the network must pass a background check.
With a lot of other cleaning marketplaces out there, the company or owner might be vetted in that way, but the individual cleaners aren’t. Since cleaners through Homeaglow are working independently, they all must complete a background check before they can be hired by anyone.

I chose a couple of days with several starting-time options, and within a day, I was contacted (via text and email) to confirm my cleaner. On Tuesday afternoon, they showed up on time, brought all the cleaning supplies with them (although you can have them use your own, if you prefer), and I gave the house tour before they started.
Although I rent a pretty large house (5 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, about 2,800 square feet), I only booked four hours because no bedrooms would be part of the cleaning. Everyone in my house is an adult, and they take care of their own rooms (my mom, my niece, my two daughters, my husband, and myself). I limited the cleaning to the common areas: kitchen, living room, dining room, upstairs hallway and stairs, the first-floor half-bath, and the second-floor full bath.

(The other bathroom is on the third floor, which is my cottagecore wonderland, and I take care of that since I’m the only person who uses it, and it’s a quick upkeep.)
After I gave the house tour, I went back to my attic office to work. Four hours later, I came downstairs to a miracle. The wood floors were actually shiny. Everything smelled and looked fresh and clean. The kitchen was fully wiped down. The entire house looked like I had just cleaned it myself, only I didn’t. (They even mopped my mom’s bedroom floor for her, which they didn’t have to do, but offered.)

I’ve ended up keeping the same cleaner for my biweekly appointments because I liked their work so much, and now that we “know” each other and they know the space, everything just runs really smoothly during each visit. They’re reliable, thorough, and they match our “vibe” if that makes sense.
On that note, after our first appointment, I did have the option to either stay with the cleaner I had (book only with them), prefer them (meaning, I might get them or I might not), or select a new cleaner entirely. So you do have a lot of flexibility where that’s concerned, should you want to try other cleaners in your area.
These days, when the weekend rolls around, cleaning isn’t something I need to think about. I still handle my third-floor cottage core wonderland, which takes about a half hour, and my husband and I split the laundry duty. He washes and dries; I fold and put away.
But otherwise, my weekend is mine to claim and spend however I want. And that, more than anything, makes a Homeaglow cleaning subscription seriously worth it.
Pros & Cons Of Homeaglow
Homeaglow has a lot of things going for it, but there are pros and cons to consider before you schedule a discounted introductory cleaning.
Pros:
- Low hourly rates (with membership) that beat most traditional cleaning services.
- Flexible booking that’s based on hours, not rigid packages.
- The ability to choose and keep a preferred cleaner.
- The platform is very user-friendly, with bookings and management handled online.
- All cleaners on Homeaglow have passed a mandatory background check and have ratings and reviews freely available.
Cons:
- The membership model can feel a little unclear upfront, especially if you’re not used to that.
- Being a subscription model, it requires consistent use to get the most benefit from it in terms of value.
- The ForeverClean membership can be cancelled at any time, but if done before six months of membership have passed, your first heavily-discounted cleaning service is billed at full price.
- Cleaner quality can vary until you find a good match.
How Homeaglow Compares To Other Subscription Services
If you’re used to subscription boxes or services, it’s important to understand that this is more of a utility subscription, rather than just convenience.
- Homeaglow has more commitment than most; it’s closer to a gym membership than a monthly box.
- It offers higher potential savings, but only with consistent use.
- Being a cleaning subscription, it’s a little less “set it and forget it” since you still have to actively manage bookings online.
That said, my cleaner actually gets the bookings situated for me. Every couple of visits, we just touch base to make sure our usual “date” every other Tuesday is a fit, and they confirm that on their phone, so the scheduling populates itself when I log in.
Homeaglow, as a subscription home service, is a great fit for busy people who need regular cleanings (weekly, biweekly, or monthly). If you already use subscription-based services and understand how commitment models work (and provide value) over time, it feels intuitive.
That said, if you have very infrequent cleaning needs or dislike reading (or sticking to) subscription terms, it might not be the best option. This also isn’t a fully-managed premium service; selecting a cleaner and booking is your responsibility.
Closing Thoughts
Homeaglow works best when you know exactly what you’re signing up for.
This is one of those things that’s high-value if you use it regularly, but potentially frustrating when you don’t. The savings through Homeaglow are totally real… but so is the commitment, and it’s easy to understand where some of the negative sentiment actually comes from when the fine print has been ignored.
That said, I think it’s a really cost-effective way to outsource one of the most time-consuming parts of your not-at-work life so you can focus on other things during the limited free time you have.
I have no regrets there, not a one.
